Horsham District Befriends

Horsham District Befriends (HDB) is a new service in Horsham District, which helps support people over 18 who are feeling lonely or isolated, or have anxieties about leaving the house, by matching them with a Volunteer Befriender and connecting them to a community group of their choice.

A message from HDB:

We know that loneliness and isolation can affect anyone in life, whatever their age and whatever their situation. It is possible to feel alone even if you have friends and family around you, sometimes it really helps to talk to someone new who can just listen and support.

Local Elections for the Parish Council

Make a change….become a local Councillor. If you care about where you live and are passionate about your community, we need you.

Local elections for the Parish Council are on 4th May 2023 and there may be an opportunity for you to become a local councillor. As a local councillor you can become a voice for your community and make a real change. Local councillors are community leaders with three responsibilities; to make decisions, to monitor and to get involved locally.  Councillors come together as the Council to deliver services, improve the quality of life for residents and give communities a democratic voice. Why not come along to Roffey Millennium Hall at 6.45pm on Thursday 2nd March 2023 for an informal opportunity to find out more about YOUR local council.

For further information about standing for election, including the nomination pack and details about online candidate briefings, visit the Horsham District Council website at https://www.horsham.gov.uk/council-democracy-and-elections/elections/upcoming-elections .

Mrs Pauline Whitehead

It is with great sadness that the Parish Council announces that the former Clerk to the Council, Pauline Whitehead, passed away on Wednesday 8th February 2023 after a short battle with cancer.

Alan Britten, Chairman of the Council “Pauline was a wonderful lady and was a joy to work alongside. She left the Council back in 2021 to pursue her passion for tutoring as part of the team at SLCC and it is a tragedy that this time has been cut so short. She will be sorely missed by staff and Councillors alike”.

Any condolences can be sent to Mr S Whitehead, c/o North Horsham Parish Council Roffey Millennium Hall, Crawley Road, West Sussex, RH12 4DT.
