North Horsham Parish Council is preparing a Neighbourhood Plan focusing on green spaces and housing design, but wants to hear more about what is important to you in Roffey and Holbrook.

We need people to get involved and to tell us about what you want to see in the future.

What is a Neighbourhood Plan?

A Neighbourhood Plan is a community-led framework for guiding the future development and growth of an area. It may contain a vision, aims, planning policies, proposals for improving the area or providing new facilities.

Neighbourhood plans relate to the use and development of land and associated social, economic and environmental issues. It may deal with a wide range of issues or it may focus on one or two issues that are of particular importance in a local area.

A Neighbourhood Plan will be subject to examination and referendum and then form part of the Local Development Plan. This statutory status gives Neighbourhood Plans far more weight than some other local planning documents, such as parish plans, community plans and village design statements. (Locality 2017)

North Horsham Parish Neighbourhood Plan

North Horsham Parish Council will be the overarching organisation for producing a Neighbourhood Plan, but the Council needs other organisations and individuals to get involved.  The whole parish has been designated for the preparation of the plan.

The North Horsham Parish Council will focus on the green areas and housing design. The Parish Council is aware that the area is becoming more developed and that the green, open spaces that are peppered throughout North Horsham provide a valuable facility for a variety of activities for everyone. These areas are used by a wide range of the community, families, dog walkers, sports people, young people and those who don’t have gardens themselves. We aim to find out what people think about their green, open spaces and to protect the green areas that are greatly valued by the community such as Manor Fields or Earles Meadow by having appropriate policies as part of the Neighbourhood Plan.

North Horsham Parish Council recognises that many people identify closely with the area that they live and the heritage of that area and that they would like to influence the housing design in their locality. Producing a Neighbourhood Plan gives people an opportunity to influence and to have policies that support what the local people want.

The Parish Council is looking for people in the community who would like to be involved in producing a Neighbourhood Plan and making a difference to their community.
