Help shape climate plans in West Sussex

County, district, and borough councils across West Sussex are inviting residents to take part in a new climate change consultation which runs until Sunday 27 September. The consultation asks questions about plans which focus on:

* Climate change mitigation – reducing the amount of carbon produced and released into the atmosphere, e.g. from transport, homes, and businesses

* Climate change adaptation – preparing for the impacts of an increasingly changing climate – such as longer and more frequent heatwaves and more severe flooding

Proposed actions set out in the plans include supporting energy efficiency improvements to buildings, enabling people to switch to greener travel options such as electric vehicles, encouraging community solar energy projects and increasing the use of sustainable drainage systems. Take part here:

Fire Incident

The following statement has been released by Biffa :

You may be aware that the fire service attended an incident at Brookhurst Wood last week. We had a fire in the stored bulky waste, which although was detected early did required the assistance of the fire service to fully extinguish. The incident was quickly brought under control in line with our emergency response plan.

Whilst the cause of the fire has yet to be established, this incident has been a timely reminder that discarded batteries are thought to cause several fires a day at waste facilities or in rubbish trucks across the UK. We would like to remind the public that batteries can be disposed of in dedicated bins in supermarkets or at recycling centres. For local further information, please refer to the Horsham District Council website link:

Community Governance Review – Future of North Horsham Parish Council

Horsham District Council launched a Community Governance Review in February 2026, covering all the parishes within the District and considered options including the creation, alteration, merging or abolishment of parishes, changes to Wards and Councillors, and grouping of parishes.

A second consultation has now opened and runs from 24th July to 7th September 2026. The options for North Horsham include a possible merger with Horsham Town Council which would result in the end of North Horsham Parish Council.
