Household Waste Recycling Sites to accept more items from Monday 1st June 2020

It highlights they will start accepting more items including wood, furniture and electrical items from Monday 1st June.

Residents will be able to dispose of the following items at all sites in West Sussex:

  • garden waste
  • general household waste
  • wood
  • cardboard
  • electrical items
  • bulky items
  • white goods
  • furniture.

Vans and pickup trucks with a permit can now enter sites. Trailers are still not allowed at this time, to help ensure social distancing and to limit queues.

It also provides information on the mobile services at Selsey and the Witterings will begin reopening from Thursday 4 June for green waste and general household waste only, starting with the Witterings.

Coronavirus Community Support Fund

This new funding stream makes available £200m in Government funding that will be aimed primarily at small to medium organisations in England.

The Fund has two key objectives:

  • To increase community support to vulnerable people affected by the COVID-19 crisis, through the work of civil society organisations.
  • To reduce temporary closures of essential charities and social enterprises, ensuring services for vulnerable people impacted by COVID-19 have the financial resources to operate, and so reduce the burden on public services.

Prioritising funding projects and organisations supporting communities through the COVID-19 pandemic. They are reviewing the situation on an on-going basis and will share any updates or developments on their website. So please only ask for what you need to support communities during this crisis.

Funding fall into 2 categories

  • Under £10,000
  • Over £10,000

 

What types of projects they fund

We want to fund activities supporting people and communities affected by COVID-19.

They will prioritise:

  • Organisations supporting people who are at high risk from COVID-19
  • Organisations supporting communities most likely to face increased demand and challenges as a direct result of COVID-19
  • Organisations which connect communities and support communities to work together to respond to COVID-19.

They are responsible for promoting the welfare and wellbeing of all groups, and working to keep them safe. Anyone who applies for their funding needs understand  National Lottery our safeguarding policy

Temporary road closure on Parsonage Road

WEST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL has notified us as follows:-

Temporary closure of Parsonage Road, North Horsham CP, 30th September 2020
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that from the date specified below, West Sussex County Council has
temporarily closed to all traffic Parsonage Road, North Horsham CP, in the Horsham District under
Section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, on Parsonage Road for a
distance approx 37 metres
The temporary closure is scheduled to commence on 30th September 2020 for up to 5 days (It is
estimated to be completed on 2nd October 2020) and is required for the safety of the public and
workforce while Network Rail undertakes Road Closure from the junctions with Foundry Lane to
Wimblehurst Road with works taking place on the level crossing to allow for tamping machine works
The restriction will be in place overnight only from 23:00 until 06:00

Access for emergency service vehicles and pedestrians will be maintained at all times during the
closure.
